Around the light, Oi Futuro Belo Horizonte | Oi Futuro Flamengo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Biwako Biennale, Omihachiman, Japan. Curator: Yoko Nakata.

From: Niura Bellavinha
Curated by: Alberto Saraiva

The painter presents a conceptual overview of her work, which spans various media, including painting, drawing, photography, film, and performance. Giving form and body to painting through other means, without using canvases, paints, and brushes, Niura Bellavinha explores the chromatic and "constructive" qualities in her painting-installation, painting-photography, painting-urban-interference, and painting-performance. At Oi Futuro, anthological works will be on display, including the previously unreleased film NHÁNHÁ, made especially for the exhibition. Shot in rural Brazil, it explores situations where air becomes a medium for pigment, in this case dust—as dry pigment—which, together with light, transforms into ephemeral, poetic, and tragic painting. Also noteworthy are videos, as well as small pieces from a collection from her childhood, thus forming an affective mapping, now transformed into a conceptual work.
