Biography

 

 

Niura Bellavinha was born in Belo Horizonte.

She lives between Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Belo Horizonte.

In his vast curriculum, numerous awards and international exhibitions stand out, such as Biwako Biennale (2010 / 2014) Omihachimman, Japan; 1st, 5th and 10th Mercosul Biennial, (1997/ 2005/ 2015) Porto Alegre BR; International Biennial of São Paulo, (1985 and 1994); Bienal de Cuenca (1995) Ecuador.

 

She participated in several National Arts Salons, among them, when she received the Grand Prize at the National Arts Salon 1990, (IBAC / FUNARTE / MAP). And she has held numerous individual exhibitions at the invitation of Brazilian institutions such as Oi Futuro Flamengo and BH; CCBB- Rio de Janeiro; São Paulo Cultural Center; MAP BH; MAM RJ.
From the early 1990s until 2019, she held several institutional and commercial gallery shows in Brazil and abroad.

 

In 2016, with Paulo Herkenhoff, Editora COBOGÓ, the book Niura Bellavinha, about the Trajectory.

 

In 2014, the Book Niura Bellavinha, NAU Editora, with texts by the Curator Alberto Saraiva, about the Individual Exhibition at Oi Futuro Flamengo (RJ) and Oi Futuro Belo Horizonte. In the same year, she released her first media film: NháNhá.

Bachelor of Arts, State University of Minas Gerais, Guignard School, Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He specialized in painting, sculpture, lithography and graduated in Painting. 1983/1987.

 

Between 1982 and 1984, she was supervised by Amilcar de Castro at the Advanced Arts Center and at his Atelier. She attended the Printmaking Workshops and studied Philosophy, Anthropology and Aesthetics at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. In 1985, she moved abroad where she did residencies and took several courses, in Madrid, London and Berlin, in Workshops and Ateliers. She then attended Parsons School of Design, New York. After returning to Brazil, in 1989 she was guided by lberê Camargo in São Paulo and Porto Alegre.

In the early 1990s, she was invited to her first artistic residency, [2 years], at the UFMG Cultural Center. Among other Residencies, Omihachimman, Japan stands out, for the realization of the Work to be presented at the Biwako Biennale; 2012, Espace_L, Geneva, for the realization of the Works to be presented at the Individual and Sacré et le Profane.

 

In 2003, she taught a workshop parallel to the work in progress of the individual Sabará–Mangueira, at the Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage, Rio de Janeiro. Between 1994, 1996 and 2019 she taught a course on Experimentation in Painting, at Escola Guignard-UEMG, in Belo Horizonte.
